01

Calculate your carbon footprint

While the average American has a carbon footprint of 16 tons of CO2 per year, indivdual carbon footprints vary dramatically based upon lifestyle.  Use the EPA carbon footprint calculator to calculate your footprint.

02

Determine how many solar panels it would take to offset your footprint

Divide your carbon footprint by 985 lbs.  That is approximately how many solar panels it would take to become carbon neutral, assuming donating solar panels was the only way that you decided to reduce your carbon footprint.  If the average American has a carbon footprint of 16 tons (35,264 lbs), that means donating 35 panels achieves carbon neutrality.

Select a non-profit solar project

The path to carbon neutrality can start with a single panel.  Select a solar projects that you would like to donate a panel to and start the journey to carbon neutral.  See projects.
